| 内容記述 | 本稿では,現代日本語における文末表現の「ダロウ」と「ネ］が共起した文の意味と機能について考察した。「ダロウネ」には,「推量系」と「確認系」という,モダリティとしての一体性(複合度)や意味・機能のまったく異なる二つのものが存在し,前者は,推量の「ダロウ」と終助辞「ネ」の合成としてその意味・機能が説明できるのに対して,後者は,「当為確認」とも言うべき一種の確認要求表現として機能する複合モダリティ表現であり,「そうあるべき」という当為性の側面を命題として表示し,「そうでないことが見込まれるという命題不成立の可能性の側面(危惧・懸念)を潜在化させている。さらに,確認系「ダロウネ」は,こうした意味的特性を基に,否定辞への接続を通して,命題不成立の可能性の側面を前面化させることによって,当為確認から「懸念確認」へと,新たな確認要求機能を派生させている。なお,WH疑問文と共起する「ダロウネ」は,実質的には,話し手の疑念を聞き手に持ち掛けるもの(「ダロウカネ」)と見做すべきである。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | In this paper, I attempt to give a full description of the meanings and functions of sentences with the sentence-final form daroo-ne in Japanese. The forms daroo-ne are divided into two types; one which holds the meaning of the conjecture form daroo, and the other which results from the combination of daroo and ne as an independent modal form used to seek confirmation of the propositional content on the basis of the speaker's judgment of necessity. Co-occurrence with adverbs which indicate a degree of certainty distinguishes the former from the latter. The discourse functions of the conjecture type daroo-ne depend on the functions of ne. Its interrogative function derives not from its grammatical feature, but its pragmatic function in dialogue. By contrast,confirmation seeking daroo-ne is interrogative in itself. It implies that the speaker thinks that the propositional content should be true, but it might in fact not be true. Especially in the case of the negative sentence P-nai-daroo-ne with the modal adverb masaka, it implies that the speaker thinks that P should not be true. On the other hand, no-dewa-nai-daroo-ne is an independent modal expression seeking confirmation, which is used when the speaker is apprehensive that the propositional content might be true. Finally, in addition to the two types above, there is another type of daroo-ne, which is used in wh-questions. It is regarded as the shortening of the dubitative form daroo-ka-ne. | |||||
