| 内容記述 | 本稿は，日・タイの謝ることばの使い方，意味，機能の比較を通じて，謝り方の背景にある社会・文化がそれらにどのように反映されているかを，在日中のタイ人にたいする調査結果も交えて，論じたものである。また，調査項目にはタイ人から見た日本人の謝り方についての意見もくわえ，日本人の言語行動をどのように理解しているかも調べた。これらのことによって，日・タイ間の謝り方と謝ることばの概念の相違点を明らかにし，誤解を招く原因を考えてみた。また，謝り方にはグライスの行動原則を適用できるか否かについても検討した。その結果，日・タイの人々の謝り方のズレをより明確にし，今後の研究課題を導き出すことができた。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | A comparative study of the usage, meaning and function of Japanese and Thai apologetic expressions reveals that these expressions reflect the social, and cultural backgrounds of the two societies. The primary assumption behind this work is that Thai speakers misunderstand the apologetic expressions used by the Japanese, and that differences in conceptualization employed in the two languages will lead to a better knowledge of the causes of these misunderstandings. Based on a written survey, the author shows the extent to which Thai people understand the apologetic expressions employed by the Japanese. The extent to which Grice's Cooperative Principle can explain the strategies of apology used by the Thai and Japanese is also examined. This survey and analysis reveals the gaps and misunderstandings that cause Thai people to misunderstand Japanese apologetic expressions. | |||||
