Most of the Japanese and Ryukyuan languages have only two pattern distinctions in the series of verb accents, and it is unclear whether the distinction between the six patterns of the Yonaguni dialect is retention or innovation. In this article, the differences between Bb, Bc, and Bcc, excluding the exceptions Bccc and C, among the non-A type alternation patterns, have been generated based on the length of the stem and the final segment of the stem from a diachronic standpoint. Therefore, it is an innovation that occurred in the dialect. Additionally, based on verb accents and conjugations, the Yonaguni dialect used to distinguish between sequential and conjunctive forms, the exceptions to accents can be explained diachronically, and diphthongs and moraic nasals are treated differently in terms of syllabification.
