| 内容記述 | 日本語(共通語)のイントネーションとアクセントは,並列的(copulative)あるいは足し算的(cumulative)な関係にあり,共存すると考えられることが多い。本稿は,非実験室的な発話状況に積極的に目を向けることによって,日本語のイントネーションとアクセントがこれまで考えられているよりも多様な関係に立ち得るということを,3点にわたって示す。第1点,さまざまなイントネーションとアクセントの間には,競合的(conflictive)な関係が認められる。その場合,話し手のきもちに応じて,イントネーションがアクセントを消したり,逆にアクセントがイントネーションを消したりする。第2点,イントネーションとアクセントとの共存は,時には,両者の力の拮抗に基づいた表面的なもので,より根底に両者の競合が見られることもある。若い世代の新しい言い方も,その一端を反映する。第3点,イントネーションはアクセントに対して上記3種の関係の他に,寄生的(parasitic)な関係に立つこともある。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | It is widely accepted that intonation and accent are either on copulative or cumulative relation in Modern Standard Japanese prosody. On copulative relation, intonation and accent are juxtaposed, as is clearly shown in a question sentence Ame? (Rain?), where the High-Low accent of the word ame (rain) is first realized and then follows the rising intonation. On cumulative relation, intonation and accent are overlaid with each other, as is ascertained by comparing Ame? (Candy?) with Ame. (Candy.): The final part e of the word ame (candy) with Low-High accent is higher in the former question sentence than it is in the latter declarative sentence. This paper shows that the relationship between intonation and accent can be more diverse than it has been thought to be so far, by focusing on natural speech in an everyday conversational environment. More concretely, this paper shows: (i) Intonation and accent can have a conflictive relationship, where they fight each other. The more the speaker is devoted in an attitude connected with an intonation, the more that intonation is likely to expel lexical accents. Conversely, the more the speaker wants to put prominence on a word, the more its accent is likely to resist (and even intercept) intonation; (ii) Some "peaceful" relationships between intonation and accent are actually based on their conflict on a deeper level; (iii) Besides copulative, cumulative, and conflictive relations, intonation can have a parasitic relation to accent. Parasitic intonations are realized only by distorting the normal accent of words. | |||||
