| 内容記述 | 外来語のアクセントは原語のアクセントから独立しているとする見方が一般的であるが,多数の外来語を観察してみると原語アクセントの関与を示唆する状況証拠が外来語アクセントのさまざまな局面に見出される。また,外来語アクセントに影響を与える原語の発音の要素はアクセントにとどまらず,原語の分飾音レベルの事実もまた外来語アクセントの重要な決定要因として働いている。この小論では,『大辞林CD－ROM版』に見出し語として立てられた外来語のうち4モーラ以下の語を中心にそのアクセントを詳細に分析し,外来語アクセントに対する原語のアクセントや分節音の関与の諸相を明らかにする。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | The accent of Japanese loanwords is generally assumed to be independent of the accent that is assigned to them in the original language. A detailed analysis of a large number of loanwords, however, reveals that loanword accentuation is conditioned not only by the accent, but also by the segmental structure of the original words. This paper discusses the ways in which the loanword accent is determined by the pronunciation of the original words. Specifically, it will be demonstrated that Japanese loanword accentuation depends upon the following factors: (a) whether and where the original word contains a consonant cluster or semivowel, which often triggers a vowel epenthesis in the loanword, (b) what kinds of consonants are involved, (c) whether and where the original word contains a sequence of segments realized as a heavy syllable in the loanword, and (d) where the original word is accented. | |||||
