| 内容記述 | 本研究では多義語の言語知識を構成する多義ネットワークの地域的な差異について，現代日本語形容詞「あまい」を題材に，語義間類似度調査の結果に基づき分析を行う。多義研究は従来，個人間の差異の抽象（国広1982）を分析方針に，言語知識の中でも大多数の人々の共有部分である共通語が調査・分析されることが多かった。本研究では多義語の運用の地域差に着目し，多義ネットワークの構造の地域的差異を検証する。題材とする「あまい」の多義構造は，先行研究で〈砂糖のような味がする様子〉，〈塩分がたりない様子〉のいずれを起点とするかで説が分かれている。本研究では方言資料に基づき，〈塩分がたりない様子〉を「うすい」，「みずくさい」などの異形式で表す地域を，「あまい」で〈塩分がたりない様子〉を表さない地域と推定し，表す地域と比べて他の語義への拡張プロセスが異なっている可能性を検討する。調査ではYahoo!クラウドソーシングを通して日本の11地域ごとに約300名ずつ，「あまい」の5区分の語義を表す例文に対する語義間類似度評定を収集した。調査結果に基づき，推定地域における〈塩分がたりない様子〉の直感の有無を分析し，複数の多義ネットワークの説に対する整理・説明を試みた。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | This paper examines regional variations in the polysemous networks that shape linguistic knowledge of polysemous words, using a survey on the degree of similarity in example sentences. The contemporary Japanese adjective amai serves as a case study. Previous research on polysemy has typically abstracted individual personal differences, focusing instead on shared linguistic structures. In contrast, this study investigates regional variations in polysemous word usage, exploring whether the structure of polysemous networks differs across regions. By analysing similarity ratings, it offers an empirical perspective on regional differences in polysemous networks and contextualises multiple theories from previous studies on the semantic extension of amai. Beyond its primary meaning of 'sweet,' amai can also mean 'bland,' as in: "The miso soup in Kansai is bland." Prior studies divide amai's polysemous structure based on whether it originates from 'sweet' or 'bland.' Dialect studies indicate that in some regions, alternative terms such as usui or mizukusai convey 'lacking salt'. Based on dialectal data, this study examines whether regions that do not use amai for 'bland' differ in the expansion process to other senses of the word compared to those that do. This study surveyed approximately 300 participants from 11 regions in Japan via Yahoo! Crowdsourcing, collecting similarity ratings across five categorical meanings of amai. The survey results reveal that polysemous networks vary in relation to other word meanings, depending on whether the intuition of 'not salty enough' is present. Supported by dialectal research, the results confirm regional differences in polysemous structures and provide explanations for competing theories of semantic extension. |
