 note = {国立国語研究所時空間変異研究系, 方言の分布は時間の流れの中で変わるものなのだろうか。方言が言語である以上,方言も変化する。そのような言語変化が発生すれば,分布もそれに応じて変化する。その変化は徐々に中央から周辺部に拡大するものと考えられてきた。ところが,実際にとらえられている分布変化は,急速で一気に拡大するものである。その一方で時間を経てもなかなか変化が起こらないこともある。これらは伝達の道具としての言語の性質ゆえのことと考えられる。このように分布変化を追うことで方言の形成という方言学の究極の目標に迫る。, Do dialectal distributions change over time? Dialects change, since they are languages. When a language change occurs in a dialect, it inevitably results in a change in dialectal distribution.
