By applying multivariate analysis to historical corpus stylistics, the present paper examines the frequencies of postpositional particles and auxiliary verbs in The Tale of Genji, The Diary of Lady Murasaki, and The Diary of Lady Sarashina, and visualizes in a multi-dimensional space the complex interrelationships among texts, the interrelationships among stylistic features, and the association patterns between texts and stylistic features. By so doing, we demonstrate that genres have more influence than writers on the style of a text.
