This phenomenon, however, is rapidly falling into a decline, and needs to be investigated immediately. In this paper, by focusing on the two old speakers (one male and one female) of the Maekura dialect (spoken in Tsunan, Nakauonuma, in the isolated mountaneous region of Chuetsu), the phenomenon of opening and closing is described and analyzed by means of acoustic and articulatory phonetics. It is found that, on the whole, regardless of the sex, the open long o is very unlikely to be pronounced as an open sound, while the close long o tends to be pronounced as a close sound (the probability is more than 50%)., application/pdf}, pages = {31--53}, title = {新潟県南部方言のオ段長音開合現象 : 老年男・女各1名の音響的実相及び発音口形の比較}, volume = {19}, year = {2006}, yomi = {オオハシ, カツオ and オオハシ, ジュンイチ and カワウチ, ヒデキ} }
