The data was taken from a pair of learner corpora based on the common prompts: the International Corpus of Japanese as a Second Language (I-JAS) —a cross-sectional dataset— and the Beijing Corpus of Japanese as a Second Language (B-JAS) —a longitudinal dataset—. A comparison of four learner groups, who were classified according to the proficiency levels and learning stages, revealed that the two corpora showed similar patterns in terms of major quantitative indices as well as the overall developmental paths, while they showed different keywords for each of the four groups.
