In this paper, the relationship between speakers' choices of honorific expressions and their consciousness of linguistic norms was investigated in the area of Hichiku dialect by means of an interview survey. It was revealed that those who have a distinct consciousness of honorific usage tend to use honorific expressions of higher politeness than those speakers whose consciousness was not distinct.
